This course is designed for experienced LC/MS users who performs protein analysis using the Thermo Scientific LTQ mass spectrometer equipped with an electron transfer dissociation (ETD) source. Students are introduced to the use of ETD as an alternative to collision induced dissociation (CID) typically associated with the structural analysis of proteins and peptides, and the identification of post-translational modifications (PTMs). The curriculum will feature lectures, in-depth discussions of qualitative analysis, and hands-on training using the latest versions of Thermo Scientific Xcalibur and Proteome Discoverer software. Course topics include: • Ion trap theory • ETD theory • Tuning
