This course introduces energy-dispersive x-ray fluorescence analysis in a format suitable for both new and experienced users of the Thermo Scientific QUANT’X analyzer and WinTrace software. Using samples and our extensive library of standards, we will develop & evaluate methods with the group to demonstrate the WinTrace software. At completion of course, attendees should be well prepared to develop new quantitative methods, maintain existing methods, and quickly evaluate ‘total unknown’ samples. Covered topics include: • XRF measurement theory and statistics • Qualitative, comparative and quantitative analysis • Excitation conditions and use of filters • Sample preparation
